Hanna Solovei
Artist
Hanna Solovei was born in Bucha, Ukraine, and is currently based in Kyiv.
She has over fourteen years of professional experience in visual communication, working as a graphic designer and art director in various fields, including advertising agencies, cultural institutions, and IT companies. This background significantly influenced her artistic practice, shaping her sense of composition, rhythm, and concept.

Since 2020, Hanna has been actively focusing on painting as her main medium. She primarily works on large-scale canvases, which allow her not only to construct an image but also to create an immersive emotional space for the viewer. Her works explore themes of dual realities, memory, and the tension between internal and external worlds.

Hanna’s visual language is distinguished by expressive brushstrokes, vibrant colors, symbolism, and rhythmical structures, often reflecting her response to personal and collective experiences. Through her art, she investigates identity, transformation, and the search for harmony within the turbulence of contemporary life.

Artist statement
In my practice I explore the state of double reality that Ukrainians live in today - being present in daily life and at the same time carrying hidden trauma.
I am interested in this gap between outside and inside, between visible and muted, between personal and collective.
My language - emotional and metaphorical. I work intuitively, relying on feelings, fragments and associations. The theme of duality is important in my works, it helps me express ambivalent, contradictory states. I feel close to German Expressionism, especially in the search for emotional tension and expression.
It is crucial for me to keep speaking about the war and to document these terrible events through my own reflection.
